THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PURPLE MERCHANT (A Marcus) was stubborn to load, fractious in the starting stalls and reared behind the stalls. b) SAV'S STAR (M Yeni) was restless and reared in the stalls. c) As a consequence of the behaviour of PURPLE MERCHANT (A Marcus) and SAV'S STAR (M Yeni), GINGERSPATHTOGLORY (*T Gumede) became restless in the stalls. Subsequently, GINGERSPATHTOGLORY (*T Gumede) was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. Due to the recent non-history of GINGERSPATHTOGLORY in the stalls, Trainer D Howells was advised to re-school this mare. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PURPLE MERCHANT (A Marcus), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 13.09.21 to the 19.09.21. PURPLE MERCHANT may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer A Wright was advised. (SN) c) DIAMONDS 'N DUST (*K Strydom) was hanging out from the 400m. d) Apprentice S Hlengwa (BRUNILDA) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) Jockey W Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with MALVERN in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse MOOBHEERA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse MOOBHEERA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. g) Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.10 in that he made a celebratory gesture shortly before the finish line whilst riding SAV'S STAR. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. h) Trainer C Binda signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owners colours were available for the horse DIAMONDS 'N DUST. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. i) SAV'S STAR (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) DIAMONDS 'N DUST was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 1.5kg) (advised 12.09.21/7h23). b) MOOBHEERA raced with a compression mask. Jockey S Moodley weighed out at 52.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 52kg. c) GINGERSPATHTOGLORY raced with a compression mask.
