In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice K Strydom struck the horse WHO'S THAT STAR the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. d) Jockey J Sampson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse ODEN more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey J Sampson struck the horse ODEN the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. e) Trainer R A Hill appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the improved performance of QUANT MASTER (K de Melo). In this regard, Mr Hill could offer no suitable explanation for this gelding's poor run on the 21 August 2021. The Board drew his attention to the Rules pertaining to in and out running of horses and will monitor the consistency of this gelding going forward. f) QUANT MASTER (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
