THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIMPLY RUSSIAN (*K Strydom) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, ROHA (A Marcus) was carried out by SHASTINA (*R Venniker) which rolled out when awkwardly placed on the heels of RIVER DOON (W Kennedy) which had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of MARIA COROLINA (M Yeni) which was ridden in order to obtain the lead. Jockey M Yeni (MARIA COROLINA) appeared before the Board with regard to this incident, was shown the patrol films of the race and advised to be sufficiently decisive when committing his mounts to a forward position so as to ensure that other runners are not inconvenienced by his movements. b) PURPLE NKANYEZI (A Mgudlwa) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) RIVER DOON (W Kennedy) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. d) In view of the performance of ROHA (A Marcus) (8.50 lengths, 4/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer P Peter will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. e) MARIA COROLINA (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
