THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOUBLE DUET (G Cheyne) was examined by the course veterinary surgeon and was declared suitable to race, causing a delay. b) IMPOSING ANGEL (*J Solomons) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. c) DOUBLE DUET (G Cheyne) and STATE OF SHOCK (O Noach) were slow into stride. d) IDEAL TIME (R Khathi) jumped outwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 800m IDEAL TIME (R Khathi) shifted out slightly away from the inside running rail and brushed MIDNIGHT COWBOY (K de Melo) outwards. b) Leaving the 200m Jockey R Fourie elected to direct POLTERGEIST (R Fourie) to the outside of BONANZA (D Ashby) to continue his run. c) DOUBLE DUET (G Cheyne) raced green and was hanging in from the 200m. d) Jockey K de Melo (MIDNIGHT COWBOY) briefly dropped his right rein in the concluding stages. e) Trainer SJ Snaith was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that POLTERGEIST had been gelded. Trainer SJ Snaith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00 f) BONANZA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised.
