THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VERCIN DANCE (+V Sithetho) jumped awkwardly losing two lengths. b) ON THE WARPATH (+T Matsoele) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) ICY NIGHT (+P Mongqawa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After jumping awkwardly, VERCIN DANCE (+V Sithetho) commenced to over-race which resulted in this gelding having difficulty negotiating the first turn. b) At approximately the 1200m, ON THE WARPATH (+T Matsoele) had to steady to avoid running onto the heels ICY NIGHT +P Mongqawa) which shifted out sharply. c) INTEGRATE (+S Siphika) shifted out significantly away from the crop from the 150m. Workrider Siphika appeared before the Board and was spoken to with regards to the manner in which he used his crop. d) ICY NIGHT (+P Mongqawa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter advised (AH). Workrider Mongqawa was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking ICY NIGHT more than twelve times in the entire race. Workrider Mongqawa signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in two Workrider races. Dates of Suspension: 4 October 2021 & 9 October 2021 When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (16), and Mr Mongqawa's record with regard to this Rule and Guideline. WORKRIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MOTOR CITY HITMAN is a gelding. Gelded 12 July 2021. Trainer P A Peter was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within 2 business DAYS (excluding Saturday, Sunday and public holidays) of the event, give written notice to the Chief Stipendiary Steward of the SB in the RACING DISTRICT in which MOTOR CITY HITMAN had been gelded. Assistant Trainer A Peter signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ON THE WARPATH cut into left hind. SCRATCHED: a) FORGOTTEN TIME lame off hind (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
