THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COVERT OPERATOR (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockeys C Zackey (CROSS EXAMINER) and G Lerena (COVERT OPERATOR) reported that their respective mounts made abnormal respiratory noises in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. b) SICILIAN TIGER (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORCE OF ARMS is a gelding. Gelded 12 August 2020. Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within 2 business DAYS (excluding Saturday, Sunday and public holidays) of the event, give written notice to the Chief Stipendiary Steward of the SB in the RACING DISTRICT in which FORCE OF ARMS had been gelded. Trainer Matchett signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R500 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CROSS EXAMINER abnormal respiratory noise. b) COVERT OPERATOR examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) LUKE SKYWALKER refused to load. Advised 18 September 2021 at 07H44. Stable Employee R van Wyk was advised that should this gelding refuse to load onto the float in future, it may be suspended (LA). b) LONDON ROADS not striding out behind (NHA / 13H50) (Rule 53.5 applies). c) RED SAXON injured en-route to the course (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
