THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ZODIAC PRINCESS (C Maujean) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) COUNTRY MILE (*C F Dicken) and ALLEZ LES BLEU (AUS) (R Munger) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 400m, Apprentice C F Dicken felt something amiss with COUNTRY MILE and eased this filly out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) BIG EYED GIRL (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ALLEZ LES BLEU (AUS) raced equipped with blinkers (declared 16 September 2021 at 08H50). b) GREAT DIVA raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 13 September 2021 at 08H18). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) COUNTRY MILE broke down at the 400m. Fractured left front fetlock. Humanely euthanised. Samples collected for analysis. Trainer G J Maroun advised telephonically (LA). b) VERINOVA abnormal respiratory noise. c) BIG EYED GIRL abnormal respiratory noise and choked up. d) ZODIAC PRINCESS abnormal respiratory noise. e) GREAT DIVA abnormal respiratory noise and choked up.
