THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIR POM (M Yeni) and CAPTAIN OUPIE (A Marcus) came together and bumped. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentice M Katjedi (BWANA) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that SIR POM continually changed stride in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that CANDY GALORE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Apprentice T Gumede (WINTER FLIGHT) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and was questioned regarding in particular, his decision to allow his horse to drift out between the 400m and 200m. In this regard, the only explanation Apprentice T Gumede could offer was that this gelding had drifted faster and further than he had anticipated. The Board noted the explanation of Apprentice T Gumede, however reminded him of his obligation to keep his mounts on a straight course and not to unnecessarily concede ground in the running. This matter was referred to the Jockeys Academy and the Board has requested feedback from the Riding Master prior to the commencement of the next race meeting. e) PRINCEKRESH (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CAPTAIN OUPIE was ridden by Jockey A Marcus (advised 19.09.21/7h29). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
