THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1100m, METEORIC (L Hewitson) shifted out when racing fiercely in the middle stages. b) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why CUPID'S SONG (*R Venniker) and UNCOMPLICATED (W Kennedy) had to ease at the 1000m. c) Jockey A Marcus reported that FATE OF FORTUNE made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of JUAN CARLOS (S Khumalo) (9.80 lengths, 9/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Gareth van Zyl will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables. e) Trainer D Bosch signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8, in that he presented UNCOMPLICATED in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this race. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. f) GAZALA GALLOP (M V'Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson advised (DM).
