THE STARTER REPORTED
A) CYCLOPS JACK was slow into stride.
B) ROYAL COUNTESS was slow away and lost 1 length.
C) UNDER MY HAT was nervous and kicked the back gate in the stalls.
D) IDEAL VIEW was stubborn loading.
E) JAQUAR CAT sat down in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) At approximately the 600m, the right-side stirrup leather on MODAKHAR snapped, resulting in Jockey C Maujean becoming severely unbalanced and dislodged from MODAKHAR. A member of the Stipendiary Board inspected Jockey C Maujean's racing equipment and found it to be in good working order.
B) At approximately the 400m, JAQUAR CAT (X Ndlovu) was carried in by SOFT SPOT (G Cheyne) which was hanging in badly from the 500m.
C) BORN A STAR (R Fourie) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 400m.
D) JAQUAR CAT (X Ndlovu) raced green.
E) In view of the performance of FLOWER'S RIDGE (W Kennedy) (distance 19.50 - betting 5/6) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
F) Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse ROYAL COUNTESS. A penalty of a warning was imposed.
G) Trainer G D Smith signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate the horse IDEAL VIEW against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed.
H) After the running of this race, Jockey C Maujean was stood down by the Course Medical Officer, after a fall. Rule 25.12 does not apply. Jockey C Maujean is to be examined by the Course Medical Officer prior to his next engagement.
I) Trainer T J Laing's attention was drawn to the provisions of Rule 10.5.7 pertaining to MODAKHAR not having raced for 120 days or more at the time of entries.
J) The winner SOFT SPOT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES
A) ROYAL COUNTESS Jockey M V'Rensburg replaced Jockey L Mxothwa (12:10 - 24/09/2021).
