THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANOTHER LEVEL (M Yeni) was stubborn loading. Trainer C Dawson was advised to reschool this colt prior to his next engagement (JB). b) LION OF THE DESERT (L Hewitson) jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. c) SAMUEL L (C Zackey) was squeezed out shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GENERAL HANCOCK (W Kennedy) and SAMUEL L (C Zackey) became unbalanced when bumped in by LION OF THE DESERT (L Hewitson), which jumped inwards. b) Entering the first turn, ANOTHER LEVEL (M Yeni) had to switch out to avoid running onto the heels of LION OF THE DESERT (L Hewitson), which was carried out marginally by GENERAL HANCOCK (W Kennedy), which hung out around turn. c) At approximately the 800m, SAMUEL L (C Zackey) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of COUNT PABLO (S Khumalo). d) Jockey W Kennedy reported that GENERAL HANCOCK made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) LION OF THE DESERT (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
