THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAN SOLO (R Khathi) jumped awkwardly inwards, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) DEBONAIR (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 400m NEVER ENDING RAIN (G van Niekerk) was directed to the outside of JAIMALA (G Cheyne) to obtain clear running. Thereafter NEVER ENDING RAIN (G van Niekerk) was hanging in from the 300m. b) JAIMALA (G Cheyne) was hanging in in the straight. c) ALINGALONGA (A Domeyer), which was hanging in in the straight and proved difficult to ride, shifted in and had to be steadied away from the heels of DEBONAIR (R Fourie) leaving the 200m. In view of this report, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine ALINGALONGA. d) The stewards reviewed the patrol films of GALLIC TRIBE's last run on 31/07/2021 which confirmed, as reported in the steward's report, that this gelding had pulled hard in the early and middle stages, refused to settle and as a result had raced round the field to the front from the 800m and had tired quickly from the 200m. e) Jockey R Fourie, the rider of DEBONAIR, reported he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) GALLIC TRIBE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
