THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SCENTED MISTRESS (*J Jacobs) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 100m REALLY ROYAL (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied, losing momentum when MAJOR ATTRACTION (G van Niekerk) shifted out. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. b) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of MARMALISA which took an awkward stride shortly after the start, reported this filly did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) CAPTAIN'S RANSOM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (CvA) d) MARMALISA, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
