THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BACKSTOP (D Dillon) was difficult and stubborn to load. Thereafter, this filly was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BACKSTOP (D Dillon), this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 04.10.21 to the 10.10.21. BACKSTOP may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer A Rivalland was advised. (SL)
b) PRINCESS SABRINA (J Gates) raced wide in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this filly was hanging in, in the straight.
c) The saddle on BACKSTOP (D Dillon) slipped sideways in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. This was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board.
d) ARIANOS SPINNER (A Arries) was hanging in from the 300m.
e) MAIDENS PRAYER (S Veale) was hanging in, in the concluding stages.
f) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse MAIDENS PRAYER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Veale struck the horse MAIDEN PRAYER, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
g) MAIDENS PRAYER (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D R Drier advised (DA).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) BIRDWATCHER was ridden by Jockey R Fourie (advised 02.10.21/8h16).
b) LOVING THE VICTORY was ridden by Jockey A Marcus (advised 03.10.21/7h10).
c) MATADORA'S PARADE raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 28.09.21/10h56).
d) FLOWER SEASON raced without blinkers and this mare raced with steel shoes in front, unshod behind (advised 03.10.21/7h55).
e) ARIANOS SPINNER raced with a compression mask.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) ARIANOS SPINNER : The ownership should read:- Mrs B M Gadsby and the colours are turquoise and pale pink checks, white sleeves and cap (SWE - 30.09.21).

a) ARIANOS SPINNER : Cut into right hind.
