THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PATH OF CHOICE (*J Jacobs), which pulled hard in the early and middle stages, raced wide without cover on the bend. b) At the 400m TICKET TO RIDE (K de Melo) was unable to secure a clear run between FUTURE PRINCE (L Mxothwa) and QUE SHIRAZ (R Fourie) and was directed outwards. c) At the 200m FORT RED (R Khathi) rolled in and had to be straightened. d) From the 200m DOUBLE CHARGE (G Cheyne) shifted in gradually resulting in PACAYA (G van Niekerk) racing tight between DOUBLE CHARGE (G Cheyne) and the inside running rail. Thereafter, leaving the 100m PACAYA (G van Niekerk) shifted out sharply away from the inside running rail and made contact with the shoulder of DOUBLE CHARGE (G Cheyne) which became unbalanced and shifted out. e) Jockey R Fourie was unable to fully assist QUE SHIRAZ (R Fourie) in the concluding stages when close to the heels of DOUBLE CHARGE (G Cheyne). f) Jockey A Domeyer, the rider of SILENT TRIGGER, reported he felt something amiss with this colt. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. g) PACAYA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
