WILL PAYS and ANGEL'S POWER lost 1 length. EHSAAN jumped outwards leaving the stalls. BUFFALO BILL CODY (IRE) lost 3 lengths. Assistant Trainer de Kock was advised to re-school this horse prior to its next engagement. A review of the start was called regarding BUFFALO BILL CODY (IRE) in starting stalls gate number 12 and after reviewing the patrol film from various angles, the Board decided BUFFALO BILL CODY (IRE) had not been impeded by a handler or any faulty mechanism, that the front gate opened on terms and therefore declared BUFFALO BILL CODY (IRE) to be a runner. At approximately the 1000m FULL MAST had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of PRINCE OF KAHAL and on the heels of ZOUAVES. Jockey P Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with FULL MAST in running and did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. INFAMOUS FOX (AUS) was carried out by ZOUAVES from the 300m to the 150m. Thereafter, when racing in close quarters, INFAMOUS FOX (IRE) was accidentally struck in the face on at least two occasions by Jockey M van Rensburg, resulting in this gelding reacting to the strikes. A member of the Stipendiary Board called a race review into this incident, which was followed by him lodging an objection on behalf of INFAMOUS FOX (AUS), placed fourth, against the second placed horse, ZOUAVES, on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol film of the incident complained of, was of the opinion that this had affected the result of the race and the two strikes to INFAMOUS FOX'S (IRE) head had been detrimental to its performance when taking into consideration the 0.10 distance between the horses at the line and therefore upheld the objection and amended the judge's result accordingly. The Board was satisfied that Jockey van Rensburg's ZOUAVES use of the crop when he accidentally struck INFAMOUS FOX (IRE) was unintentional and therefore took no action against him. PRINCE OF KAHAL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ZOUAVES raced in Club colours. Vet: FULL MAST - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
