THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STATE OF MIND (W Kennedy) rushed the back gates prior to loading, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. As a result of this incident, RED SHIFT (G Wright) rushed the front gates, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MR PIGALLE (T Godden) was hanging in from the 300m. b) PARKTOWN (J Gates) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. c) Jockey G Wright reported that he felt something amiss with RED SHIFT in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of performance of BAYVIEW EXPRESS (A Arries) (9.25 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse BANHA BRIDGE more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Khumalo struck the horse BANHA BRIDGE, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) MR PIGALLE (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) PARKTOWN was ridden by Jockey J Gates (advised 12.10.21/15h25). b) GIMME A RAINBOW was ridden by Jockey S Veale and this gelding raced with a compression mask. Reserve runner (advised 11.10.21/15h12). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) RED SHIFT : Mouth injury. b) BAYVIEW EXPRESS : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) MAJORCA PALACE : Bruised hoof right front (Trainer - 11.10.21/15h11). Rule 53.5 applies. b) GOVERNORS GLORY : Urticaria (Trainer - 11.10.21/15h25).
