THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SKY VIEW (*J R Syster) fly-jumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) THE LEGENDARY LADY (*M H Zuma) raced fiercely to the front of the field in the early and middle stages resulting in the saddle slipping forward. Thereafter when passing the false rail at the 600m, THE LEGENDARY LADY commenced to hang in badly proving difficult to assist. At the 300m, FORT SNOW (M Yeni) had to steady and switch out in anticipation of running onto the heels of THE LEGENDARY LADY which continued to hang in. Apprentice Zuma, the rider of THE LEGENDARY LADY, failed to report that his saddle had slipped in running. He appeared before the Board in the company of the Apprentice Welfare Officer Mr M Ball and was reminded of his obligation to report any circumstances that may have affected his horse's performance in races. b) RED HOT (R Munger) hung in from the 300m. c) Jockey N Klink reported that he felt something amiss with AXIOM in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GILDA GRAY more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2500 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of strikes as well as Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline. e) GILDA GRAY (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (AH). Race 1 contd. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORT SNOW raced equipped with blinkers (declared 14 October 2021 at 07H46). b) RED HOT raced equipped with pacifiers on (declared 14 October 2021 at 08H56). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) AXIOM fatigued and coughing post-race. b) FORT SNOW blowing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None
