THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EDWARD LONGSHANKS (R Munger) and CORVETTE CAPTAIN (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) When questioned regarding the improved performance CATCHTHEGREENLIGHT (D Schwarz), Trainer F P Habib explained to the Board that this gelding is extremely fractious and tends to misbehave during the pre-race proceedings. Today he had fitted pacifiers to this gelding which in his opinion had improved its manners on parade which had allowed the gelding to settle and not waste energy. This had accounted for the improvement shown. Trainer Habib was advised to race this gelding similarly equipped in future. b) An Inquiry will be opened to establish why TOUCH OF FATE (M Yeni) and BRIDGE OF SPIES (*M H Zuma) had to ease shortly before the finish line. c) CORVETTE CAPTAIN (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J J van Vuuren advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
