THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) THE DONELLY (*T Gumede) was stubborn to load and lost 4 lengths.
b) BLAZING LIGHT (S Veale), PASHTUNWALI (S Khumalo) SUPER SILVER (S Moodley) lost 2 lengths.
c) BACKWHITEDYNAMITE (W Kennedy) lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to THE DONELLY (*T Gumede), this colt's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 18.10.21 to the 24.10.21. THE DONELLY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M N Prinsloo will be advised. (SL)
b) At the 400m, PASHTUNWALI (S Khumalo) took an awkward stride. Thereafter, at the 300m, PASHTUNWALI (S Khumalo) was carried out by YAMASHITA'S GOLD (*D Geerthsen) which was carried out by CAPTAIN RED RAY (A Arries) which rolled out.
c) WINTER AIR (M V'Rensburg) was hanging in from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that this colt did not act in the going.
d) DROGARATI (A Mgudlwa) was hanging in from the 300m.
e) BARRINGTON (*R Venniker) was hanging out from the 300m.
f) PASHTUNWALI (S Khumalo) was hanging in from the 200m. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, Jockey S Khumalo's crop struck the left arm of Apprentice R Venniker (BARRINGTON) when both riders were racing in close proximity.
g) COIN SPINNER (L Hewitson) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages.
h) SUPER SILVER (S Moodley) raced detached from the field throughout. Thereafter, in view of the performance of this gelding (17.35 lengths, 66/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
i) Apprentice R Venniker reported that she felt something amiss with BARRINGTON in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
j) After the running of this race, the Stipendiary Board consulted with the riders and the going was changed from good to soft to soft.
k) COIN SPINNER (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Rivalland advised (SC).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) CAPTAIN RED RAY was ridden by Jockey A Arries (advised 17.10.21/8h18) and this gelding raced with a compression mask.
b) SUPER SILVER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 14.10.21/8h18).
