THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PANCHITA (G Wright) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 300m, PRINCESS DONELLY (*R Venniker) had to ease when shifting ground onto the heels of CAPE PRINCESS (K de Melo) which had commenced to give ground in the straight. Apprentice R Venniker appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was advised that she must take all reasonable measures to ensure similar incidents do not occur in future. b) Between the 200m and 100m, FATEFUL MISTRESS (S Brown) shifted out away from the crop. c) In the concluding stages, POPPY OF BAYEUX (M Yeni) was struck on the nose on 2 occasions by the crop of Jockey S Khumalo (PERFECT APPEAL) when both horses raced in close proximity. Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and shown the patrol films of the concluding stages. Whilst it was noted that Jockey S Khumalo made some attempt to adjust his crop action, he was nevertheless advised to take more care when using his crop when racing in tight quarters, particularly when he has created the close proximity with his own riding. Jockey S Khumalo was further advised to inspect his riding equipment and to ensure that it is of the requisite standard as subsequent to the above incident, the flap of Jockey S Khumalo's crop was dislodged. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with CAPE PRINCESS in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) GIMME A LULLABY (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Y Govender advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CAPE PRINCESS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 17.10.21/19h06). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CAPE PRINCESS : Coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
