THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RED EIGHT (A Andrews) was restless in the stalls, jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) EMPIRE GLORY (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the 30 minute interval between races and the delay in the first and second races. b) At the 150m FIGHTER (A Domeyer) had to be steadied away from the heels of RED EIGHT (A Andrews) which was held up behind BALTIMORE JACK (O Noach) and directed outwards to obtain clear running. Jockey A Andrews appeared before the Board, was shown the race recording and advised to be more aware of other runners in similar circumstances. c) Jockey O Noach appeared before the Board. His attention was drawn to Rule 62.2.8 and advised to keep his mounts on a straight course for the first 200m when riding in races over a straight course. d) Jockey C Bantam, the rider of EMPIRE GLORY, reported this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey D Ashby, the rider of BONANZA, reported this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) INTREPID, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
