THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WILLOW'S WISH (L Hewitson) shifted out sharply away from the crop at the 400m and thereafter commenced to hang out. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that INFINITE WONDER pulled up lame post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. c) Jockey L Hewitson was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking WILLOW'S WISH more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Hewitson signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (13) as well as Jockey Hewitson's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline. d) SAFE PASSAGE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
