THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SAVAGE LOVE (*K A Brewer), SPEECHMAKER (*D B Geerthsen) jumped awkwardly and FLINDERS RANGE (*K Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start and when entering the first turn, FLINDERS RANGE (*K Strydom), STUPEFY (*C F Dicken) and DARK TRAVEL (*R A Venniker) had to steady to avoid the heels of BROOKLYN BRIDGE (*S W Njokwe) which initially jumped inwards and then shifted in sharply to secure a run on the inside running rail. Apprentice S W Njokwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of BROOKLYN BRIDGE, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FLINDERS RANGE (*K Strydom), DARK TRAVEL (*R Venniker) and STUPEFY (*C F Dicken) when he shifted in shortly after the start. Apprentice Njokwe signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. Suspension dates to be advised. b) Shortly after the start, Apprentice J R Syster the rider of THE MAKWAKKERS, briefly lost the footing to his left side stirrup iron after becoming unbalanced when bumped by MCKENNA SKYE (*J Solomons) which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) Approaching the 1250m, SPEECHMAKER (*D B Geerthsen) which was ridden inwards, had to steady and switch out to avoid the heels of FLINDERS RANGE (*K Strydom). Apprentice Geerthsen the rider of SPEECHMAKER appeared before the Board in the company of National Riding Master Mr R Moore, and was advised to be more mindful of other horses positions, relative to his in races. d) Apprentice K A Brewer the rider of SAVAGE LOVE accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. e) Apprentice P Mxoli was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse MIRACLE AND WONDER out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Apprentice Mxoli signed an Admission of Guilt and the Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R1000. f) DARK TRAVEL (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Webber advised (LN). Apprentice Venniker has ridden her 20th winner and with effect from tomorrow 22 October 2021, only claims a 2,5kg allowance. APPRENTICE CHANGES: a) KAPAMA was ridden by Apprentice M H Zuma who claimed 4kg allowance as declared on 21 October 2021 at 08H12. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) DARK TRAVEL Apprentice R A Venniker weighed out at 53,6kg, only claiming 2,5kg of her 4kg allowance as declared. THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
