THE STARTER REPORTED A) FULL SCORE was nervous in the stalls and reared as the start was effected. B) KINGS FORT, CHARLIE MCCREEVY and CANA were slow into stride. C) INNERSPACE bolted the course and was withdrawn by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Upon arriving at the start, Jockey M V'Rensburg was dislodged from INNERSPACE which then bolted and was subsequently scratched by the Stewards on the advice of the Course Veterinary Surgeon. Jockey M V'Rensburg was examined by the Course Medical Officer and was stood down from the remainder of his rides, Rule 25.12 applies. B) Jockey K Minnie reported that FLYING PEKAN was blowing post-race. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. C) Jockey X Ndlovu (CHARLIE MCCREEVY) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride in the straight. The Stewards advised Jockey Ndlovu that they were particularly concerned with his perceived lack of vigour in the closing stages and adjourned the matter to review all the patrol films from all angles. D) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning HUKUM, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for HUKUM must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. HUKUM must also gallop for the NHRA veterinary department after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised.
