THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on FUSILLADE (G Wright) was replaced at the start. b) ATHALIA (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KISSING POINT (G Cheyne) was hanging in throughout. b) Leaving the 400m GAYLEACTIC STAR (M Winnaar) was unbalanced when brushed on the hindquarter by WALK OF FAME (A Marcus). c) Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FUSILLADE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Jockey G Wright's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Jockey G Wright used his crop and the number of strikes (15) over the permissible level. d) In view of the performance of HILARITY (GB) (A Andrews), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey R Fourie was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on HILARITY (GB). Jockey R Fourie signed an admission of guilt and was given the penalty of a warning. f) FUSILLADE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
