THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 200m, BOWIE (*J Solomons) was brushed inwards by SEA VIRESCENT (S Khumalo), which hung in from the 300m. b) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that IN CAHOOTS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking BARNEYS PRIDE more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14) and his recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline. d) SEA VIRESCENT (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) BATTLEOFTRAFALGAR raced equipped with alumites in front and steel shoes behind (declared 18 October 2021 at 08H20). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) IN CAHOOTS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) TILLIEANGUS off feed (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
