THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BAY OF DREAMS (T Godden), SHOW THE FLAG (*K Strydom) and ROCKIE REEF (D Dillon) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1200m, BAY OF DREAMS (T Godden) was bumped in by SHOW THE FLAG (*K Strydom) which rolled in when having to be restrained off heels. Shortly thereafter, these two horses came together and bumped on 2 occasions. b) At the 1200m, TOP HONOURS (L Mohapi) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of ONE BITE AT A TIME (A Marcus) which was ridden forward in order to secure the lead and the rail. Jockey A Marcus appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was advised that when he rides his mounts in a similar manner in future, he must ensure that he carries sufficient speed in order to cross the field without causing any inconvenience to other runners. c) Jockey S Khumalo reported that NEVERENDING LOVE changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey T Godden reported that BAY OF DREAMS did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Apprentice K Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with SHOW THE FLAG in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) ONE BITE AT A TIME (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) ZURUMOTI raced without blinkers (advised 20.10.21/17h09). b) TOP HONOURS raced equipped with blinkers and without a tongue tie (advised 24.11.21/7h31). c) ONE BITE AT A TIME raced with cheek pieces (advised 23.10.21/22h30).
