THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly before the finish, DRAMA QUEEN (*K Strydom) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of WINDOW TO AFRICA (G Wright) which rolled out and WISHFUL GIRL LINN (T Godden) which rolled in. As a consequence of this incident, Apprentice K Strydom was unable to assist DRAMA QUEEN to the finish. b) Jockey A Marcus appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which in his opinion contributed to the poor performance of BLUSH OF DAWN. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, BLUSH OF DAWN had not shown the early speed he had anticipated. However, after being well positioned and travelling well enough in the middle stages of the race, when he asked this mare to finish its race off entering the straight, it had nothing to come. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey A Marcus. In view of the performance of BLUSH OF DAWN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer G B Puller will be advised to report back on the condition of this mare on return to stables. c) RETAIL THERAPY (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Kennedy advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) VIHAAN'S PIE was ridden by Apprentice K Brewer (claiming 4kg) (advised 22.10.21/9h39). b) BLUSH OF DAWN Jockey A Marcus weighed out at 57.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 57kg. c) WINDOW TO AFRICA Jockey G Wright weighed out at 52.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 52kg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BLUSH OF DAWN : Nothing obvious detected at a trot. Speedy cut right hind and cut into left hind.
