THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) Fair start.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Into the first turn, IRONTAIL (G Wright), HERECOMESTHERAIN (K de Melo), FAUSTINO (S Moodley) and BERNIE'S DREAM (D Dillon) were carried out by LUNARCAM (S Veale) which shifted out when racing fiercely in the running.
Jockey S Veale appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the above incident. Jockey S Veale explained that, LUNARCAM had refused to settle, taken a hold of the bit and shifted out despite his attempts to settle this gelding in behind runners. When questioned regarding whether this gelding required a change of equipment in order to improve its racing manners, he explained to the Board that, he had provided such feedback to Assistant Trainer S Ferrie, however, this was an inexperienced horse having only its second run at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Assistant S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier appeared before the Board and confirmed the above feedback from Jockey S Veale and was of the view that this gelding would improve with racing and possibly down the straight but undertook to the Board that if needed he would assess the appropriateness of an equipment change in work. The Board noted and accepted the explanations from Jockey S Veale and Assistant Trainer S Ferrie. In view of the behaviour of LUNARCAM (S Veale) (2.25 lengths, 83/100 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
b) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with HERECOMESTHERAIN in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c) Jockey S Moodley reported that FAUSTINO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) ASHFORD CASTLE (K Sakayi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting for Trainer G S Kotzen advised (ML).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) FAUSTINO was ridden by Jockey S Moodley (advised 24.10.21/7h40).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) Nil.
