THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COMEDY OF MANNERS (D Dillon) and QAARAAT (M Yeni) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) VOICE NOTES (T Godden) was hanging in from the 400m, proving difficult to assist. b) Jockey M Yeni (QAARAAT) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the non-vigorous nature of his ride between the 350m and 200m. In this regard, he explained that, after being restless in the stalls, this filly was able to secure a good position one out one back in the running. When he entered the straight, he afforded QAARAAT an opportunity to balance as this is a horse that gets unbalanced easily. However, as he was asking QAARAAT to finish its race off strongly at the 300m, this filly changed legs and had in his view, required time to regain balance which resulted in his riding appearing less vigorous. He was further of the view that QAARAAT hesitated on at least two occasions to take the run between PERSPICUOUS (*T Gumede) and CASA ROSADA (J Gates). However, thereafter, having been directed to the outside of CASA ROSADA (J Gates), it ran on steadily. Additionally, it was Jockey M Yeni's view that this filly may appreciate further and had accordingly, provided such feedback to Trainer A Wright. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey M Yeni. In view of the performance of QAARAAT (M Yeni) (4.60 lengths, 13/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey D Dillon reported that COMEDY OF MANNERS choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) VOICE NOTES (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Badenhorst advised (ML). e) CASA ROSADA (J Gates), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G B Puller advised (DA).
