THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASHARI (W Kennedy) and WINTER FLIGHT (T Godden) were restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Between the 900m and 700m, AD ALTISIMA (*R Venniker) which had insufficient speed in order to hold its position, was momentarily inconvenienced on 2 occasions when awkwardly placed on the inside of MASHARI (W Kennedy) and thereafter, BURNING WINGS (*J Jacobs) both of which rolled in. b) Between the 800m and 600m, WINTER FLIGHT (T Godden) had to be restrained on 2 occasions when awkwardly placed on the heels of LIGHT THAT LOOSE (M Yeni). c) HARD TO PLAY (L Mohapi) was hanging in from the 400m. d) AQUA BOLT (G Wright) which showed a tendency to hang in from the 400m, was unable to secure a clear run until the 200m. Thereafter, this gelding finished its race off strongly. e) AD ALTISIMA (*R Venniker) was unable to secure clear running until the 150m. Thereafter, this gelding improved through a narrow run between LIGHT THAT LOOSE (M Yeni) and BURNING WINGS (*J Jacobs), and finished its race off strongly. f) Jockey W Kennedy reported that MASHARI did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey D Dillon reported that WAYWOOD took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) In view of the performance of KAYSON (S Khumalo) (24.60 lengths, 25/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. i) WINTER FLIGHT (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
