THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JET BLAST (D De Gouveia), JOHNNY CHIFAMBA (K Matsunyane) and PHANTOMOFTHEFOREST (S Brown) were slow losing one length. b) COVERT OPERATOR (R Danielson) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey G Lerena the rider of WINTER PEARL accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m and reported that this colt did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. b) ANGEL OF WAR (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (GF). c) JET BLAST (D De Gouveia), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (MdP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) PHANTOMOFTHEFOREST was ridden by Jockey S Brown. Jockey B Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horses PHANTOMOFTHEFOREST (Race 1), DAMOVA (Race 2) & RED SAXON (Race 10), or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer.
