THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PEARL OF ASIA (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) BWANA (*J Jacobs) was hanging in from the 400m. b) In the concluding stages, PEARL OF ASIA (G Wright) which produced a powerful finishing burst after racing at the rear of the field in the early and middle stages, was momentarily inconvenienced when shifting in to continue its run off the heels of BWANA (*J Jacobs) which was hanging in from the 400m and had come to the end of its run, and TEMPTING FATE (S Veale) which shifted out away from the crop marginally when tiring in the straight. c) SPYDAS CORNER (K de Melo) shifted in to continue its run in the concluding stages. d) In view of the performance of PARTY TIME (S Moodley) (9.15 lengths, 9/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Veale reported that TEMPTING FATE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer D Drier will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables. f) CHANTYMAN (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer L Karriem acting on behalf of Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (ML).
