THE STARTER REPORTED A) MAESTRO SONADOR, FLYING PEKAN, CAPERNAUM and LOTUS KING kicked the back gate in the stalls. B) BRINGBACKTHEMONEY was stubborn loading, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls and threw its head up. C) FRESH FROM THE US was stubborn loading. D) PROUD WARRIOR kicked the back gate in the stalls and was slow into stride. E) RAIO and KING JULIAN were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) BETTER DAYS (W Kennedy) pulled hard in the early stages. Thereafter, Jockey W Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with BETTER DAYS in the running and did not persevere with his ride from the 150m. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. B) Apprentice K Strydom felt something amiss with FLYING PEKAN and eased this gelding out of the race at approximately the 700m. As a consequence, ARKAAN (C Maujean) which was out paced in the early and middle stages had to ease and switched outwards to avoid running onto the heels of FLYING PEKAN. Thereafter, ARKAAN compounded badly from the 300m. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Stable Employee G Venter on behalf of Trainer T J Laing will be requested to report back on the condition of this gelding upon return to the stables. C) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning FLYING PEKAN (*K Strydom), and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. D) Trainer J L Van Heerden's attention was drawn to the provisions of Rule 10.5.7 pertaining to BURNT HORIZON (C Zackey) not having raced for 120 days or more at the time of entries. E) In view of the performance of FRESH FROM THE US (L Mxothwa) (distance 7.50 - betting 4/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
