THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HAWKER TYPHOON (G Lerena) was held up for a clear run between the 350 and the 300m. b) Jockey G van Niekerk, the rider of HIGH HOSANNA, felt something amiss with this filly and he eased her out of the race from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. c) KEEP THE LIGHTS ON (L Mxthwa) had to be directed to the outside of GAYLEACTIC STAR (M Winnaar) approaching the 300m. d) At the 200m FAVORITA (B Fayd'Herbe), which was hanging out, had to be steadied away from the heels of CASA INVERNO (*T Gumede) on two occasions. Thereafter Jockey B Fayd'Herbe, reported this filly did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) CAPITANA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. (TJ) f) KEEP THE LIGHTS ON, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
