THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LADIES DAY (K Sakayi) and KYNISKA (S Brown) were stubborn to load.
b) FATEFUL MISTRESS (M V'Rensburg) lost 3 lengths.
c) GREEN SLEEVES (A Mgudlwa) lost 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KYNISKA, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 08.11.21 to the 14.11.21. KYNISKA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer J Guthrie was advised. (SN)
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to LADIES DAY, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 08.11.21 to the 14.11.21. LADIES DAY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D Moore was advised. (SN)
c) LADIES DAY (K Sakayi) over-raced in the early stages.
d) Approaching the 800m, INDOMAVEL (A Marcus) had to be restrained off heels. Thereafter, this filly shifted out away from the crop at the 300m.
e) At the 450m, OUR EMILY (*R Venniker) had to be restrained off the heels of YATA (W Kennedy) which rolled out.
f) MISS GIBSON (A Arries) raced greenly in the running.
g) In view of the performances of LADIES DAY (K Sakayi) (3.50 lengths, 25/2 in the betting) and SHIKOKU (D De Gouveia) (21.50 lengths, 66/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) Jockey M Yeni appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which, in his opinion, contributed to the poor performance of POPPY OF BAYEUX (2.75 lengths, 63/100 in the betting). In this regard, he explained that, it was his instructions to obtain cover early and to allow this filly to run on in the straight. Consequently, after jumping well, he elected to take a trailing run from YATA (W Kennedy). However, once YATA (W Kennedy) obtained the lead, Jockey W Kennedy slowed the pace significantly between the 900m and the 600m which resulted in his mount over-racing, particularly in the middle stages of the Race. Thereafter, as a result of these exertions in the middle stages, POPPY OF BAYEUX failed to produce its usual finishing burst in the straight. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey M Yeni and requested the Veterinary Surgeon to examine this filly in view of its performance.
i) OUR EMILY (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (ML).
