THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CREATOR (K Sakayi) lost 1 length and thereafter, was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SO DACHA (M V'Rensburg) jumped out at the start. Thereafter, this colt raced wide around the field, into a handy position at the 900m and compounded in the straight. b) At the 1300m, PASTHUNWALI (A Marcus) was squeezed out when awkwardly placed between BLAZING LIGHT (S Veale) and COTTON RON (A Mgudlwa) which was carried out by SYX HOTFIX (M Yeni) which rolled out. c) MINGSHI (*T Gumede) raced in a rearward position in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this gelding shifted in continually from the 400m, whilst finishing its race off strongly. Apprentice T Gumede appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was requested to provide clarity on why it was not more reasonable for him to have corrected his mount at an earlier stage in the straight and in particular, secure the running between FLUTE (M Ntuli) and THE BRIEF (S Khumalo) at the 200m, rather than shift across the track, off the heels of the fading FLUTE (M Ntuli) and to its inside in the concluding stages. In this regard, Apprentice Gumede explained that this gelding has a tendency to hang in, in its work and therefore, when it began to shift in, he was reluctant to break its momentum as his mount was finishing strongly. Consequently, he wanted to secure definitive clear running as he anticipated that the run between FLUTE (M Ntuli) and THE BRIEF (S Khumalo) would close. The Board noted the explanation from Apprentice T Gumede, however, reminded him of his obligation not to cover additional ground in races. d) Between the 700m and the 400m, PASHTUNWALI (A Marcus) was inconvenienced on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed on the heels of FLUTE (M Ntuli) which had to be ridden to keep pace with the field from the 800m. e) At the 300m, BRISTOLBEAUFIGHTER (G Wright) switched out to continue its run. Thereafter, this gelding finished its race off strongly. f) PASHTUNWALI (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
