THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) EQUERRY (+X Ngcobo) and JOHNNY CHIFAMBA (+T Ncume) reared in the stalls.
b) MARADIVA (+P Mongqawa) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) SEQUOIA (+A Feni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
d) FULLIAUTOMATIX (+B Mlangeni) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, BACK TO BASICS (+P Mlangeni) was bumped in by BROADWAY TUNE (+I Lukhele), who in turn was bumped in by MARADIVA (+P Mongqawa), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) FULLIAUTOMATIX (+B Mlangeni) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
c) The saddle on JET CAPTAIN (+E Watkinson) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board.
d) Work Rider X Ngcobo reported that he felt something amiss with EQUERRY in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Work Rider S Mosia reported that he felt something amiss with TRUST THE FIRE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) Work Rider I Lukhele reported that he felt something amiss with BROADWAY TUNE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g) Trainer B Webber was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate the horses FULLIAUTOMATIX and GREAT TIMES against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer B Webber signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed.
h) JET CAPTAIN (+E Watkinson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
