THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GO DREAM MACHINE (*J Solomons) was slow into stride. b) MADABOUT FASHION (*P Mxoli) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PRIDE OF PARIS (N Klink) over-raced in the early stages. b) WATUSI (*J R Syster) hung in around the turn. c) FLYING FIRST CLASS (R Munger) was baulked for a clear run from the 300m to the 100m. d) THE BRASS WAY (C Maujean) took an awkward stride at the 300m and thereafter Jockey Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with THE BRASS WAY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey W Kennedy reported that ANCIENT ROME took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of IRISH RAIN (*C F Dicken), (betting 4/1, distance 7,40 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer A G Laird was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. g) BALL ROLLING (*X Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
