GREENWOOD DRIVE (AUS), PALACE GREEN and KNIGHT OWL were slow into stride. RAGOON over-raced in the early and middle stages and brushed the inside running rail at approximately the 1400m. RAGOON cast its left front shoe in running. When afforded the opportunity to explain the performance of RAGOON, Apprentice Dicken, in the company of the National Riding Master, Mr Moore, explained to the Board that his instructions were to get cover and to race from off the pace. However, this gelding had jumped very well, taken a hold of the bit and over-raced in the early stages. In light of this, he was unable to ride to the instructions given to him. Apprentice Dicken further advised that RAGOON continued to over-race in the middle stages, had made contact with the inside running rail at approximately the 1400m and tired in the straight. Jockey Habib reported that COME THE DAY did not stride out freely in running. MASTER MAGIC and GREENWOOD DRIVE (AUS) were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: COME THE DAY - not striding out right front.
