THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MAMBO SYMPHONY (S Veale) raced detached from the field in the early and middle stages. b) At the 1400m, WILDLIFE SAFARI (*D Geerthsen) was carried out by ARROW'S MARK (J Gates) which over-raced in the early stages and shifted out sharply when awkwardly placed on heels. This resulted in WILDLIFE SAFARI (*D Geerthsen) racing wide in the middle stages. c) LORD OF THE MANOR (K de Melo) was hanging in from the 400m. d) Jockey G Wright (POLICY TARGET) dropped his crop at the 250m. e) In view of the performances of ARROW'S MARK (J Gates) (8.30 lengths, 13/2 in the betting), CATCH THE TUNE (M V'Rensburg) (10.00 lengths, 33/1 in the betting) and WILDLIFE SAFARI (*D Geerthsen) (11.90 lengths, 33/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Moodley (MONARCHY) appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol films of the race and reminded of his obligation to inform the Stipendiary Board when he intends to ride his mount with a different racing pattern in comparison with their racing history. g) TIGER TANK (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
