THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) KILEIGH'S FATE (S Moodley) jumped awkwardly and lost 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start, BECKONING BEAUTY (*K Strydom) and DUNYAA (AUS) (S Khumalo) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the outside of REAL ADVISOR (G Wright) which rolled out.
b) Between the 800m and the 600m, HER ROYAL MAJESTY (A Arries) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of VOICE NOTES (T Godden) which showed an inclination to continually hang in. Jockey A Arries appeared before the Board and was requested to provide clarity on the timing of his ease. In this regard, Jockey A Arries confirmed that he was forced to ease as VOICE NOTES (T Godden) continually applied inward pressure onto HER ROYAL MAJESTY (A Arries) between the 800m to the 600m until eventually he allowed VOICE NOTES to cross him at the 550m. Thereafter, in the straight, VOICE NOTES (T Godden) which was hanging in proving difficult to assist, brushed the inside running rail on numerous occasions. Jockey T Godden appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his decision not to ride this filly out to the end of the race. In this regard, he explained that, despite his attempts in the straight to keep VOICE NOTES on a straight course, this filly refused to comply and at the 100m when it again brushed the running rail, he was of the view that it became unsafe for him to continue riding her out to the finish. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey T Godden. Trainer W Badenhorst was advised that in light of this filly's history of hanging in and poor racing manners, it is indefinitely suspended until proving tractable to race without hanging as severely.
c) DUNYAA (AUS) (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P M Gadsby advised (ML).
