THE STARTER REPORTED
A) GLOBAL MARK and JAQUAR CAT were stubborn loading.
B) TRUMPS EXPRESS was nervous, kicked the back gate in the stalls and reared as the start was effected.
C) BOY NAMED SUE was stubborn loading and slow into stride.
D) TARA ITI was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) IRISH SEA (J Penny) shifted in away from the crop at the 300m and was immediately straightened.
B) TARA ITI (T M Musekiwa) gave ground to the field quickly in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
C) Jockey R Munger reported that he felt something amiss with STAR EFFECT in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
D) Jockey T M Musekiwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 56.2.4 in that he had in his possession a communication device in the Jockey's quarters. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards with the assistance of the National Horseracing Authority Special Investigator scrutinized the activity on the device and were satisfied that there was nothing suspicious or sinister that would merit a more substantial penalty. A penalty of a R2500 fine was imposed.
E) The winner JAQUAR CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J H Strydom advised (LM).
F) The unplaced horse TARA ITI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J A Visser advised (LM).
