THE STARTER REPORTED
A) JET MIRAGE was stubborn loading and slow into stride.
B) FLASH GALA was nervous in the stalls.
C) GUAQUISTADOR and GREENLIGHTFLASH were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) At the 800m, ESSOS (*K Strydom) was taken out wide by FRANKIE TWO SHOES (X Ndlovu) which showed a tendency to over-race and was directed outwards in pursuit of clear running away from the inside running rail. The Stewards advised Jockey X Ndlovu that, while there were circumstances to this incident, he is required to position his mounts so that they do not disadvantage other horses.
B) At the 400m, FRANKIE TWO SHOES (X Ndlovu) was brushed by WANGAN MIDNIGHT (R Danielson) which shifted out away from the crop.
C) At the 300m, MHLABENI (L Mxothwa) was bumped by MARSH MARIGOLD (K Minnie) which was carried in by SILVER CELEBRITY (M Mjoka) which shifted in suddenly away from the crop. Thereafter, MHLABENI and MARSH MARIGOLD raced tight and bumped when MHLABENI shifted out away from the crop at 50m.
D) ALL IN LINE (G Cheyne) was hanging in from the 300m, proving difficult to assist. In view of this report, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) In view of the performance of GUAQUISTADOR (J Penny) (distance 18.15 - betting 100/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
F) The Stewards have adjourned to review Jockey S Khumalo's ride in the concluding stages.
G) Jockey T M Musekiwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse GREENLIGHTFLASH unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place. A penalty of a R750 fine was imposed.
H) The winner MARSH MARIGOLD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Assistant Trainer A Mtengwana acting on behalf of Trainer A C Greeff advised (LM).
