THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASTER OF TIME (+M Sigenu) was fractious in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race, causing a delay. b) KING OF COLTS (+B Ncwadi) jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m GENTLEMAN (+L Nhose) and AFRICAN WINTER (+S Madalana) brushed. Thereafter these horses raced in close proximity and brushed in the concluding stages when AFRICAN WINTER (+S Madalana) rolled out. b) KING OF COLTS (+B Ncwadi) raced green. c) Work Rider L Nhose was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M & C on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GENTLEMAN more than 12 times in the entire race and on consecutive strides. Work Rider L Nhose signed an admission of guilt and was suspended for three (3) work rider races. Work Rider L Nhose must be re-certified by the Grooms School's Riding Master prior to accepting rides in future work rider races. In determining penalty, the Board took into account Work Rider L Nhose's recent record in relation to this Rule, the distance over and manner in which Work Rider L Nhose used his crop and the number of strikes (25) over the permissible level and that he had used his crop on consecutive strides. This gelding was examined at the request of the stewards. d) In view of the report from the starter regarding MASTER OF TIME (+M Sigenu), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 21/11/2021 to 27/11/2021 inclusive). MASTER OF TIME may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) GENTLEMAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JMT Stewart was advised.
