THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ICED TEA (A Arries) and GYPSY MAGIC (J Gates) were stubborn to load. b) ROY'S ROCKER (K de Melo) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 800m, ROY'S ROCKER (K de Melo) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of ICED TEA (A Arries) which commenced to give ground to the field from the 850m. Thereafter, ROY'S ROCKER (K de Melo) struck the running rail at the 700m. b) Jockey A Arries reported that he felt something amiss with ICED TEA and eased this filly out the race at the 600m. c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ICED TEA, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer M Dixon was advised. (Suspension Dates : 22.11.2021 to the 20.01.2022) d) CHELSEA FLOWER (S Veale) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. e) In view of the performance of DUQUESNE WHISTLE (S Khumalo) (11.05 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse CHELSEA FLOWER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse CHELSEA FLOWER, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. g) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse BASETSANA more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse BASETSANA, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. h) QUE FOR YOU (G Wright), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer W A Nel advised (ML). i) CHELSEA FLOWER (S Veale), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Hewitson advised (DA).
