THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PURPLE POWAHOUSE (D Dillon) lost many lengths. In considering what action to take, the Starter considered the non-history of this gelding in the starting stalls and the reason why this gelding lost many lengths. Accordingly, Trainer A Wright was advised to re-school this gelding.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) A race review was called into the start of this race, pertaining to PURPLE POWAHOUSE (D Dillon) drawn in stall gate 13. In this regard, it was established that, as start was effected, PURPLE POWAHOUSE had thrown its head into stall gate 12 and attempted to savage Jockey A Arries. In reviewing this incident, the Board was of the view that, PURPLE POWAHOUSE was not impeded by a handler nor by a faulty starting stall and that, any distance lost by this gelding was as a result of its own behaviour therefore, no further action was taken and PURPLE POWAHOUSE was deemed to be a runner.
b) At the 800m, IRON BARK (A Marcus) which brushed IMPARTIAL (*R Venniker), took a number of awkward strides and became severely unbalanced behind. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine IRON BARK.
c) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why SOWETO ROSE (C Zackey), FAUSTINO (S Khumalo), CHIEF EXECUTIVE (S Moodley), ALFONSA SPAGONI (K de Melo) and MAGICALLEE (*D Geerthsen) suffered varying degrees of interference at the 700m.
d) FAUSTINO (S Khumalo) was hanging out from the 400m. In view of the performance of FAUSTINO (S Khumalo) (2.10 lengths, 3/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why MASTER KEEKU (A Arries) had to ease at the 250m.
f) In the concluding stages, MASTER KEEKU (A Arries) and SOWETO ROSE (C Zackey) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the outside of HAMPTON COURT (G Wright) which shifted out away from the crop from the 100m. A member of the Stipendiary Board called race review into this incident. However, after reviewing the footage of this race, he was of the view that the above incident had not affected the result of the race and therefore no further action was taken. An inquiry has been opened into this incident.
g) CANADIAN BOLT (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R A Hill advised (DA).

b) MAGICALLEE raced without blinkers (advised 20.11.21/20h14).
