THE STARTER REPORTED A) SISTER FREDA was unruly at the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. A penalty of a R250 fine was imposed. B) Shortly before the finish line GRACE LIGHTNING (M Yeni) was awkwardly placed between RED RUBY (T Gould) which shifted in away from the crop and JUNGLE PROMISE (W Kennedy) which shifted out away from the crop. The patrol film of the race was reviewed by Trainer Z Oosthuizen and Jockey M Yeni followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey M Yeni the rider of the 3rd placed GRACE LIGHTNING against the 2nd placed JUNGLE PROMISE (W Kennedy) on the grounds of intimidation and interference shortly before the finish line. The Board after reviewing the patrol film of the incident as well as hearing evidence put forward by all parties, adjourned to deliberate. In deliberation the Board taking into account that there was movement from the horses either side of GRACE LIGHTNING in such close proximity to the finish line, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Jockey M Yeni's deposit was refunded. C) The winner RED RUBY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer W G C Miller advised (LM). D) The second placed horse JUNGLE PROMISE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (LM).
