BETWAY WORK RIDERS MAIDEN PLATE (For all Maidens)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EQUERRY (+V Sithetho) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Work Rider S Mosia (TRACY'S PRINCESS) became severely unbalanced and lost his footing to his right-side stirrup iron when TRACY'S PRINCESS'S hind quarter was turned sideways when bumped by COVERT OPERATOR (+D Cooper), which was bumped in by EQUERRY (+V Sithetho), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Work Rider S Mosia was unable to regain the footing to his stirrup irons and as a consequence could not assist this filly in running. b) Work Rider S Mosia reported that TRACY'S PRINCESS returned cut into. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Work Rider C Simpson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse GREAT TIMES, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Work Rider C Simpson signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in one Work Rider race. Date of Suspension: 14 December 2021. d) Work Rider C Simpson was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C and M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking GREAT TIMES more than twelve times in the entire race as well as using his crop consecutively. Work Rider C Simpson signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in three Work Rider races. Dates of Suspension: 11 January 2021, 15 January 2021 and 27 January 2021. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (21) of which 5 of these were consecutive. Furthermore, the Board have recommended to Mr C J Maree who oversees the Work Riders that Mr C Simpson attend a refresher course at the Thoroughbred Development Trust as his standard of ride was unacceptable. e) THE HOUND (+T Mango), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CARUSO raced with a compression mask (declared 30 November 2021 at 12H08). b) EQUERRY raced without a tongue tie (declared 4 December 2021 at 07H34). c) DUKE OF FIRE raced equipped with alumite bar shoes in front, unshod behind (declared 4 December 2021 at 07H44). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FULLIAUTOMATIX scalp wound left hind. b) TRACY'S PRINCESS cut into left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
